Summary
Catherine, Henry VIII's wife, has been unable to produce an heir to the throne, and Henry (Robert Shaw) has asked the Pope to grant him a divorce so he will be free to marry Anne Boleyne. Sir Thomas More (Paul Scofield), Chancellor of England, does not back the divorce. Cromwell (Leo McKern) frames More, forcing him to resign - More is brought to trial, found guilty of treason, and beheaded. This production, based on the play by Robert Bolt, is directed by Fred Zinnemann.
