Summary
From the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents, in the DVD set The Alfred Hitchcock Collection, are five dramas. ARTHUR (1959): Arthur (Laurence Harvey) is an amiable chap who runs a New Zealand poultry farm and basks in his bachelor lifestyle; then a former flame (Hazel Court) re-enters his life - her scheming heart set on making him her partner for life; Arthur's solution to his dilemma is, of course, murder. THE CRYSTAL TRENCH (1959): in this chilly turn-of-the-century tale of obsessive love, an English mountain climber dies of exhaustion atop a peak, and his body becomes frozen in a glacier. His young wife clings to his memory and lives for the day that his deep-frozen corpse will emerge from the ice - forty years pass before that day, with an ice-cold climactic twist. THE HORSEPLAYER (1961): Claude Rains is the pastor of a church whose treasury is in worse shape than its leaky roof. A generous parishoner (Ed Gardner) reveals that he has been praying for winners at the local racetrack - the pastor is tempted to place a bet, too. MRS. BIXBY AND THE COLONEL'S COAT (1960): Mrs. Bixby (Audrey Meadows), neglected wife of a Manhattan dentist (Les Tremayne), is having secret once-a-month get-togethers with a wealthy Baltimore gentleman, The Colonel (Stephen Chase); but The Colonel has unexpectedly decided to end their affair and buys her a pricey mink coat as a parting gift. BANG! YOU'RE DEAD (1961): Six-year-old Jackie Chester (Billy Mumy) likes to play cowboy - but one day his gun is real - filched by the unsuspecting lad from an uncle's suitcase. His family must find him before tragedy strikes. DVD print contains the following special features: Dolby Digital English and Spanish 2.0 Mono; English closed-captioned; French subtitles; 1.33:1 full frame; dual layer
