Summary
This is the documentary account of a landmark in the history of flight, a true story filmed as it happened. It is also a story of perseverence by inventor Dr. Paul MacCready, who with the help of family and friends, achieved the goal of designing the first manpowered airplane to fly a mile long figure eight course, thus winning the coveted Kremer Prize. Follows MacCready for one year as he develops his idea from the first crude wing to the final sophisticated craft. The Gossamer Condor now hangs in the Smithsonian between the Wright brother's plane and the Apollo II moon capsule - a testament to man's dedication, imagination and perseverence
