  • The complete funeral music for Queen Mary begins with a march and canzona for four (slide) trumpets by Purcell, and marches by Thomas Tollet and James Paisible for the royal oboe band; these are played with military drums playing the Old English March, repeated continuously, as standing orders required. These were played for the procession to Westminster Abbey for the burial. There follows a setting of the burial service as given in the Book of Common Prayer. This setting is by Thomas Morley except for one anthem (Thou knowest, Lord, the secret of our hearts) composed by Purcell to replace a lost movement by Morley
