Summary
Documentary filmmaker James Marsh suspenseful and poetic chronicle of tightrope walker Philippe Petit and his daring walk across a wire strung between the two World Trade Center towers in New York City on August 7th, 1974. Done illegally, his stunt resulted in his arrest and detainment for psychological evaluation. Creatively fusing Petit's personal footage, archival material, interviews and dramatic reenactments, MAN ON WIRE shows how Petit overcame seemingly insurmountable challenges to achieve the artistic crime of the century. Based on the book TO REACH THE CLOUDS by Philippe Petit. Bonus features: "Philippe Petit's Sydney Harbor Bridge Crossing (1973)" featurette; Philippe Petit Interview; "The Man Who Walked Between the Towers," an animated short film. 1.78:1 Widescreen; English and French audio with intermittent English subtitles and optional Spanish subtitles
