  • The Orientation to Occupational and Family Integration Scale (OOFI) was developed to assess young adults' desires for combining the roles of work and family. The instrument consists of three scales: The male-traditional/conventional; the female-traditional/conventional; and the male and female role-sharing. Items on the male and female traditional/conventional scales reflect the view that although both women and men may be employed, the woman is primarily responsible for the home and children and the man is primarily responsible for financial provision. Endorsement of items on the male and female role-sharing scale reflect the desire for an active integration of work and domestic roles for both the individual responding and their partner. Reliability and validity are discussed. (JW)
