Summary
At the ART MEETS SCIENCE AND SPRITUALITY IN A CHANGING ECONOMY conference in 1990, the participants speak of a new way of thinking about the nature and organization of all living systems, of the creativity inherent in chaos, and of a non-linear world that contains multiple view. John Cage did not attend the conference, but was interviewed at a San Francisco studio where he was working on a new painting. At his home in Brussels, Ilya Prigogine speaks about "dissipative structures," non-linear processes and his other theories which have revolutionized science. Huston Smith, in the garden of his Berkeley, California home, explains his ideas about "the new religion of science" and post-modernism. With John Cage, composer and artist; Ilya Prigogine, thermodynamic physicist; Huston Smith, philosopher and teacher of comparative religion; and F. Wilhelm Christians, director of the Deutsche Bank
