  • Inscriptions : pencilled profile of man's head, with text bubble from which text has been erased ; "Sunday May 18th 1874 with additional text obscured by Nutter's bookplate -- front pastedown ; "I want you to invite every young man you see tomorrow" ; "I will do so with the greatest of pleasure. S." -- back pastedown, with another pencilled profile.
  • In poor condition : boards detached ; rough mending done to spine : holes drilled in textblock and cord threaded in and around spine ; cords now causing stress to paper, and causing tearing and breakage ; spine lacking and original sewing structure exposed ; covers abraded and worn ; paper soiled and brittle.
