Summary
Eric Fardet proposes a redefinition of the term "vocalese" in favor of the "transcription for voice in jazz" meaning. He relies on this new definition to bring together the Double Six, Swingle Singers and Quire groups in a Paris school of vocal jazz, a simulated improvised vocal school (Hodeir, 1997) that adopts the transcription technique as a common practice. to the three vocal groups. He also places these musical techniques within onomatopoeic phenomena and restores polyphonic practices within jazz. He finally studied various scripts of the "Double Six" (Swingle Singers) and compared the style of the Double Six to that of the Lambert, Hendricks & Ross group
